Kali, AKA Eskrima, or Arnis is a Filipino Martial Art (FMA). Let me explain why I am interested in Kali as a practitioner of Judo, Aikido, and Karate.

Kali is a combative art. All movements and techniques in Kali start from the use of weapons. This is very similar to Aikido. The next videos explain how all Aikido forms originate from weapons.

Kali also trains in grappling, which is called Dumog. This is very similar to what I know of Judo.

And the connection to Karate becomes clear in this video.

So I see a lot of similarities between Japanese martial Arts, such as Judo, Karate, Aikido, and Kali. However, Kali is less dogmatic and more practical than the other arts.
